One of the most common activities that needs to be done during an analysis and optimization process is to record or note down the chages that are required or planned. XEUS Pro's workbench has action prompts that enable the user to do common tasks like add/remove relations. XEUS also flexibly allows this to be done within the map plot itself.

Most other tools in the market allow you to do step through the process of analysis and optimization yet crucially lack the functionality to record those changes you want within the tool itself. XEUS PRO comes the ability to create & record the changes within the tool and generate a report based on the changes. The report can be exported or saved into an MS EXCEL document. The report itself is formatted in such a way as to make it easier for operations people to execute the necessary changes. For example, the report is segregated by add or remove neigbor relations is in one section & parameter changes in another section.

In next few weeks, see how XEUS PRO 2009 has been enhanced to include powerful new functions such as scripting and network statictics import, plotting & charting.

Week 7- Drive Test Analysis – Intuitive Workflow for Analysis

The value of a drive test post processing software tool lies in its ability to help the RF optimization engineer to quickly analyze problems in the radio network. XEUS Pro is ideal for use for daily optimization.

XEUS Pro not only helps you the RF engineer step through your analysis intuitively but also provides the visuals & intelligence to make the process easier. Firstly, XEUS Pro comes with capability to allow users to define what views they prefer to see on the screen. For example, Layer 3 (L3) messages, WCDMA Active set / Neighbors, events etc.

The analysis workbench also provides useful information on dropped call and blocked call which the engineer can use to step through the event. As you step through the events in the workbench, the windows would auto synchronize to display the relevant information.

XEUS Pro 2009 now comes with advanced abnormal event diagnostic providing you extra information for your analysis purposes.

Next week, learn how easy it is to create an action plan right within XEUS Pro to make easy for you to record the changes you want after your analysis.

We also understand what a hassle it can be to learn a new tool for plotting.

XEUS Pro has the advantage of using MapInfo Professional engine. Most RF engineers would find XEUS to be intuitively easy to use for plotting as they can find the features & functionality of MapInfo Professional built into XEUS Pro. MapInfo is the de-facto tool used by the majority of RF engineers for creating thematic plots.

XEUS Pro does allow the customization of the plots using its built in theme manager. The theme manager is a template like application that enables users to edit or customize plots according to their individual requirements.

XEUS Pro incorporates many commonly used drive test plots. These pre-defined plots which are user customizable makes is easy for RF engineers to quickly generate plots. XEUS also enables the user to create individual cell coverage plots with users having an option to select individual CellId for plotting.

Next week, learn how XEUS Pro makes stepping through a drive test analysis simple with user defined views and synchronized windows.

Intelligent Algorithms to Identify Common Radio Network Quality Problems

How often do you find that after spending hours post processing your network data & analyzing your drive test logs, the reason for a drop call or block call can be attributed to either “missing neighbor” or “swapped antenna” problem? You can spend your time more productively maintaining your network QoS by simply automating this tedious task using XEUS Pro’s intelligent drive test analysis toolbox.

XEUS Pro was designed by RF Optimization engineers with a focus on assisting RF engineers in an operational environment to quickly identify & rectify the most common radio network quality problems. XEUS Pro is ideally suited for daily optimization tasks with an emphasis on resolving radio network problems from drive test logs in the shortest period of time without requiring any additional hardware or third party software. Just install XEUS into your desktop or laptop and you can start analyzing immediately.

XEUS Pro requires MapInfo Professional to be installed as a pre-requisite but being the de-facto RF mapping software in use, that’s not a problem for most users.

To rapidly identify missing neighbor or swapped sector problems, just use XEUS Pro’s built-in drive test analysis toolbox & execute the analysis using pre-defined selection criterion. For example, in swapped antenna, you can specify the out of direction degree.

XEUS Pro’s intelligent algorithm would then display the results in the workbench automatically by listing & ranking the results of the analysis based on highest probability. In the example shown above, it is even possible to visually see the swapped sector problem.

With this in mind, it leads us to another exciting feature of XEUS Pro…..pre-defined plots and customizable thematic plots.

Next week, learn how XEUS Pro’s superior visualization and plotting functionality makes it such a must have for RF Optimization Engineers

If you have been using just MapInfo or Asset to do this, you will be simply amazed at how simple & fast using XEUS is!

Finding a Cell

Built-in Toolbox window, with Find Cell & Neighbors tab.

Find Cell has intelli-sense that shows all the possible cells as a dropdown list when you type the Cell Id.

The cell will be centered and highlighted on the map.

Another easy way to find a cell on the map is to right-click the cell in the Network Explorer window and select Locate Cell.

Show Neighbor(s) for user selected Cells

You just need to enter the CellId and tick the Display neighbor(s) box.

Click the Find button to display all the neighbors for that particular cell.

The user can define which neighbor type to be displayed by choosing the desired box under the Neighbor Type column.

Another quick way to display neighbors is to right-click the cell in the Network Explorer window and choose Show Neighbors.

Show Interference

The user can show interference for a given SC (WCDMA), BSIC and ARFCN (GSM).

Select the Channel & Code Planning tab on the Toolbox window.

Enter SC (WCDMA), BSIC or ARFCN in the boxes provided depending on the type of interference you would like to see.

Click the show button and any cell's text in the map with the same SC, BSIC or ARFCN will be highlighted using a different color

XEUS with Cell Planning Features - Making it Easy

Look out next week for the launch of XEUS Pro...our Daily Optimization Software with advanced import capabilities for drive-test analysis and statistics.

Keeping it Simple - Importing and Viewing Network Data

We understand what a pain it is to try to create your own hack (i.e. Excel Macros) to parse data sources from your network data.

Aexio XEUS makes this process easy & fuss free with a built-in wizard to import your network data.

XEUS can import & parse the following data sources

TEMS Cel File

Ericsson GSM BSC Dump (R10‐R12)

Ericsson OSS Bulk CM (P4 & P5)

Ericsson Kget log file (P4 & P5)

MCOM Text File (3G and 4.x)

Xeus Interchange File (xif)

Nokia WCDMA RAML XML file

Huawei WCDMA printout

Siemens GSM printout

For some data format like BSC Dump and Kget that do not have the site configuration (GPS) information, XEUS allows you to import the site configuration using other formats such as TEMS Cel file prior to importing those data.

Your time is precious. XEUS make a tedious process literally automated at the click of a button!

XEUS LiTE 2009 with Quick & easy network Import capability

What is more interesting is XEUS LiTE's ability to view multi-technology, multi-band 2G and 3G networks by layering cells. You can see this below:

DOWNLOAD XEUS LiTE today! www.aexio.com/downloads.html

XEUS has the option to filter layers. With LiTE 2009 users can have configurable themes for Cell Type & Cell Status.

Next week, we will introduce XEUS LiTE Cell Planning Toolbox

Introduction to XEUS LiTE2009

XEUS LiTE is built upon Aexio’s advanced yet easy-to-use visualization platform - XEUS.

XEUS LiTE is freeware, so there are no hidden costs.
